Shipping labels, packing slips and tracking

How to print labels and packing slips, send tracking to customers and marketplaces, and what is needed for real postage.

Updated Oct 25, 2026

From order to doorstep without retyping anything: Pop Street Commerce makes the label, prints the packing slip and sends the tracking number to the customer and the marketplace.

Where it stands: everything works in test mode today. Test labels print "Test mode label, not valid for postage", and tracking in test mode is simulated. Real postage needs an account with a label service (we use Shippo) and its access token. The connection is written to Shippo's documentation and has not been run live here, so the acceptance test is to buy one real label, scan it and check tracking.

Each day

  1. Open Shipping. The To ship queue shows orders that need a label, orders with a label ready, and local pickups.
  2. Make a label for one order, or tick several and make them in one go.
  3. Print the 4 by 6 label and the packing slip.
  4. Mark it shipped. The customer gets an email with tracking, and the marketplace receives the tracking number for you.
  5. When the carrier delivers, the order becomes delivered by itself.

Settings to review

Open Rates and zones and Carriers and sender. Pop Street Commerce starts with sensible choices, and a banner reminds you to review them until you press I have reviewed them.

  • Shipping rates by weight and by zone.
  • Free shipping over an amount you choose.
  • Faster services, local pickup and handling fees.
  • Box sizes, packing days and the cut-off hour for same-day packing.
  • Your sender street address. Labels need it. We leave it blank until you give it, and never invent one.

Special cases

  • Voiding. You can void a label before it is handed over.
  • Returns. Make a return label from the order.
  • Large items. Very heavy or oversized items cannot get a parcel label. Pop Street Commerce offers a flat freight price or "we will contact you with a quote", and you enter the freight carrier and tracking number by hand.
  • FBA and WFS orders. They are shipped by Amazon or Walmart, so they need no label from you.

Direct carrier accounts

Pop Street Commerce uses a label service that handles several carriers, rather than a separate link to each carrier. That keeps set-up to one account for you.
