Stock locations explained: your storage, Amazon and Walmart

Why Pop Street Commerce counts your own storage, Amazon (FBA) and Walmart (WFS) stock separately, and how that keeps every channel honest.

Updated Oct 25, 2026

A stock location is a place where your stock sits. Pop Street Commerce keeps a separate count for each one, so you always know what you have and where it is.

The standard locations

  • Your own storage. The default. Your shelves, your back room, your garage.
  • Amazon (FBA). Units sitting in Amazon's warehouses. FBA means Fulfilment by Amazon.
  • Walmart (WFS). Units sitting in Walmart's warehouses. WFS means Walmart Fulfillment Services.

You can add more locations of your own, such as a second shop or a rented unit, and rename them. The three standard ones cannot be deleted.

What "in stock" means in Pop Street Commerce

The stock number your shop, register, eBay, Shopify and the other channels use is what you can ship yourself. It is the total across your own locations. Amazon and Walmart units are not in that number.

Why FBA and WFS stock is separate

Those units are in someone else's warehouse. Only Amazon or Walmart can ship them, and only they know the true count. If Pop Street Commerce mixed them into your own number, your shop might sell a unit that is sitting in Amazon's building and cannot reach your customer.

So Pop Street Commerce reads their count and shows it on its own. It never pushes quantities to FBA or WFS. A product set to FBA is advertised on Amazon from FBA stock only.

Using Amazon stock on other channels

There is an option called Use Amazon stock for my other channels. It is off by default. If you turn it on, your own shop, eBay, Shopify and TikTok can also sell FBA units, and Amazon ships them. See Amazon and FBA.

When your own storage runs short

A sale takes stock from your default storage first. If that runs out, it takes from your other own locations.

Stock on its way

Stock being moved belongs to no location until it arrives. It sits on the transfer and shows as a separate column in the stock report. See Transfers between locations.

Where to look
