Adding products and photos
Create a product once, with good photos, plain words and the right numbers, so every channel can use it.

A product lives in one record. Photos, prices, stock and barcodes in that record are read by your storefront, your register and every marketplace.
Add a product
- Open Inventory, then Add product.
- Type a name, brand, model or barcode. Pop Street Commerce can search free online catalogues and let you pick a match, which pre-fills the form. Check it over. It is a start, not the final answer.
- Or pick a template for the kind of product you sell.
- Fill in price, cost and how many you have.
- Add photos, a plain description and a few tags.
For many products at once, use Import CSV with a spreadsheet, or the Catalog builder with a list of barcodes.
Sizes and colours
Sizes and colours are variants of one product. Each variant has its own SKU, price, stock and barcode. A SKU is your own short code for one exact item. See the Glossary.
Photos
- Your own photos are best.
- Use daylight, a plain light background and no filters.
- Aim for at least 1000 pixels on the long side. Marketplaces reject small ones, and 500 pixels is the usual minimum.
- No text, borders, sale stickers or other brands' logos on the photo.
- Take a front view, a close detail, the back and one that shows size.
- On a phone, press Take a photo on the product page to use the camera.
Pop Street Commerce copies a photo from an online catalogue only when its licence allows it, and then stores the credit. Anything else is for reference only.
Titles and descriptions
Put what it is first, such as "Cotton block-print kurti, knee length, indigo". Skip "best", "cheap" and all capitals. Descriptions are plain text with no web addresses or phone numbers.
Barcodes
Scan the barcode on the item into Barcode on the item, and the register can find it. A GTIN is only for products that already have one. Never make one up. For your own unbranded goods, use your store name as the brand.
Listing health
Each product shows a score. It needs 70 or more, plus a photo, a price and a description of at least 60 characters, before it can go to a marketplace or a feed. The score tells you what is missing.
