Words you will see in Pop Street Commerce and in marketplace seller accounts.

Selling words

  • Marketplace. A big website where many sellers list products, such as Amazon or eBay. Also called a channel.
  • Channel. Any place you sell: your own shop, your register or a marketplace.
  • Listing. One product as it appears on one channel.
  • Product and variant. A product is the item. Its variants are the choices, such as sizes and colours.
  • SKU. Stock keeping unit. Your own short code for one exact product, such as one size and colour. It is how Pop Street Commerce and a marketplace know they mean the same item.
  • GTIN. Global trade item number. The number under a barcode, called UPC or EAN in some places. Use the real one printed on the package. Never invent one.
  • Brand and MPN. The maker's name and the maker's own part number. Some marketplaces accept these when a product has no GTIN.
  • Shelf. A group of products, such as a department.
  • Listing health. A score that shows whether a product has what marketplaces expect, such as a photo, a price and a description.

Stock and shipping words

  • Stock location. A place your stock sits, such as your own storage.
  • FBA. Fulfilment by Amazon. Amazon keeps your stock in its warehouses, then packs and ships the orders.
  • WFS. Walmart Fulfillment Services. The same idea at Walmart.
  • Multi-channel fulfilment. Using stock held at Amazon to fill orders from your other channels.
  • Transfer. Moving units from one location to another.
  • Tracking number. The code a carrier gives a parcel so anyone can follow it.

Connection words

  • Connect, or one-tap Connect. You press Connect, sign in on the marketplace's own page and approve access.
  • OAuth. The name for that sign-in-and-approve step. You never hand your password to Pop Street Commerce.
  • Key. A pair of long codes from your seller account, such as a client ID and a secret, that you paste once.
  • API. A way for two programs to talk, so Pop Street Commerce can read orders and send stock counts.
  • Feed. A private web address that lists your products. A marketplace reads it on a schedule.
  • Upload file. A spreadsheet in the marketplace's own layout, which you upload in its seller tools.
  • Sample mode. The screens work with made-up orders and nothing is sent to the marketplace.
  • Dry run. A rehearsal that shows exactly what would be sent, without sending it.

Licence and account words

  • Licence key. The code that proves your licence. Keep it private.
  • Perpetual licence. One that never ends. See Licences explained.
  • Grace period. A few days after a licence ends when everything still works.
  • Owner, staff, cashier. The three roles. See Staff roles and permissions.
  • Test mode. Practise payments with no real money.
  • Pilot. Your practice copy. See How a pilot works.
