The Inspections and defects screen

This screen lists open defects and past inspections. You will be able to record an inspection, see failed checks become defects and clear a defect when it is fixed.

Before you start #

You need the owner, manager, dispatcher or advisor role. Recording and clearing need a current license with the Fleet module.

Steps #

1. Open Fleet, then "Inspections and defects".
2. To focus on one asset, choose it in "Show one asset".
3. Read "Open defects": Asset, Item, Note, When and Actions. A Critical badge marks a critical item.
4. Select Clear when a defect is fixed.
5. Read Inspections, newest first: When, Asset, Kind (Before shift, After shift or Driver vehicle report), Result (All clear, Defects found or Out of service) and Summary.
6. To record one, complete "Record an inspection": Asset number, Kind, Checks, Odometer and Summary. Write one check per line, such as Brakes: ok, Lights: watch or Steering: fail!. The ! marks a critical check.
7. Select "Record an inspection". The result shows under the form.

Result: failed checks appear in Open defects. A critical failure shows "A critical check failed. This vehicle should stay out of service until the defect is cleared."

If something goes wrong #

• "This line needs the form Item: ok, watch or fail": correct the named line.
• The Asset number is shown on the Asset screen.
