Every public booking has a trip page at /ride/t/<token>. The same page opens at /ride/trips/<token>. You will be able to tell a rider what the page offers and how the tip is recorded.
Before you start #
- Turn on the public booking page. See "The public booking page for riders".
- Add the business phone in Settings, Business so the page shows Call the office.
Steps #
- The rider books and lands on the trip page. A progress bar shows Finding a driver, On the way, Arrived, On your trip and Complete.
- When a driver accepts, the page shows the driver's first name and photo (when added), the taxi, the plate, a live map with the car, the pickup and drop-off pins and the route so far, and a countdown to the arrival.
- The rider can tap Share this link to send the page to a friend, and Call the office to phone the business.
- When the trip ends the map and the driver's position leave the page. The receipt shows.
- The page asks for a rating from 1 to 5 with an optional comment. A rider rates once.
- The page offers tip buttons (10, 15 and 20 percent of the fare in whole dollars) and a box for another amount, up to 500. A rider adds one tip.
How the tip is recorded #
A tip added on the page is a note kept with the trip. It shows on the receipt total the rider sees. Pop Dispatch collects no payment for it: the rider hands it over as they paid the fare, or the business charges it through its own payment connector.
Technical details
- Live updates arrive by server-sent events at
GET /ride/trips/:token/stream. The page asks again every 10 seconds when the stream is unavailable. POST /ride/trips/:token/feedbacktakesratingandcomment.POST /ride/trips/:token/tiptakestip_cents, from 1 to 50000. Both answer 409 when already done and 409 before the trip is complete.- The trail comes from
job_position_trail. It is empty once the trip ends.
If something goes wrong #
- The map shows no street names: install the map file. See "Office map extract".
- A rider cannot rate: the trip must be complete and have no rating yet.
