Checked against Pop Dispatch 0.1.0

Every completed taxi trip gets a receipt. When the rider gave an email address, the receipt is emailed as soon as the driver ends the trip. You will be able to set up what the receipt shows, send it again, and know where a rider reads it online.

Before you start #

  • Mail has to be set up on the office server, with a mail host and a From address. Until then receipts wait with the status "The receipt is held until mail is set up in Settings." Whoever runs the server sets it up (see shared-dispatch).
  • Fill in two fields under Taxi, then Rates and settings, then Dispatch settings, "Records and addresses": "Certificate holder" (the name that holds the taxi certificate) and "Complaint contact" (where riders send a complaint).
  • Record each driver's certificate number (see taxi-shifts-and-vehicles).
  • Taxi is part of the Pro and Business editions.

What the receipt contains #

  1. The business name, the receipt number such as R-000012, and the date and time the trip ended.
  2. The pick-up and drop-off addresses.
  3. The trip distance, when the meter measured one.
  4. The cab number, the dispatcher (the business name), the driver's first name and the driver's certificate number when recorded.
  5. Each line of the fare, then the Fare, the voucher amount when a voucher paid, the Tip, the Total and how the rider paid.
  6. "Questions or complaints" with your complaint contact.

The subject line reads "Your trip receipt (number) from (business)". Empty items, such as a missing certificate number, are left off.

Send a receipt again #

  1. Open the completed trip from the board. The Receipt section is at the foot of the page.
  2. In "Send to", keep the rider's address or type another one.
  3. Choose "Send the receipt". The page says one of:
    • "The receipt was sent."
    • "The receipt is held until mail is set up in Settings."
    • "There is no email address for this rider."
    • "Sending the receipt failed."

Where the rider reads it online #

The rider's trip page (see public-booking-page) shows the same receipt once the trip is complete, with a Print receipt button. The link works for 30 days after the trip ends.

Technical details
  • Routes: GET /taxi/trips/:id/receipt (the text), POST /taxi/trips/:id/receipt with an optional to_email, and the public GET /ride/trips/:token/receipt.
  • The receipt row stores the status (sent, held, none or failed), the address and any error. A failed send never undoes the trip.
  • A receipt number takes the trip's id: R-000012 for trip 12.
  • The receipt lists the trip's Fare as the sum of its lines, which include any cancellation or no-show fee.

If something goes wrong #

  • The status stays "held": ask whoever runs the server to save the mail host and From address.
  • "There is no email address for this rider.": type an address under "Send to".
  • "Sending the receipt failed.": read the note after the status, fix the mail settings or the address and send again.
  • A line is missing from the receipt: the field behind it has no value, such as the certificate number.
