How a Pop Street Commerce pilot works

A pilot is a working copy of Pop Street Commerce with your products, where you practise safely before anything goes live.

A pilot is a working copy of Pop Street Commerce that we set up for you, with your products on it. It lets you try real screens and real routines before you commit to going live.

What you get

  • A private copy on our servers, kept out of search results.
  • Your products, brought in from the list you give us.
  • Your logo, colours and words on the storefront.
  • Staff sign-ins for the people who will use it.

What is safe to try

During a pilot, three things keep you safe.

  • Sample mode for marketplaces. The screens work with made-up marketplace orders. Nothing is sent to any marketplace, and no real customer is involved.
  • Test mode for card payments. A card form that behaves like the real one, using test card numbers. No money moves.
  • Sample data is flagged. Made-up orders are marked as samples and are removed when you go live. A live shop never receives made-up orders.

What the pilot looks like

  1. We set up the pilot and send you a sign-in.
  2. You look around, add or change a product, and place a test order on the storefront.
  3. You ship a test order using test mode labels. Test labels say they are not valid for postage.
  4. When you are ready, you open your real marketplace accounts, or test accounts where a marketplace offers them, and connect one at a time. Publish a single test listing first.
  5. When you are happy, we move the same copy to its permanent home on your hosting or ours, issue your licence and turn on real payments. See Hosting options.

How long it lasts

Your agreement sets the length. A pilot can be covered by a custom-term licence, such as a short period or a season, so ask us what suits you. See Licences explained.
