Connecting a marketplace: one-tap, key or upload file
The three ways Pop Street Commerce connects to a marketplace, which one each marketplace uses, and what sample mode means.
Updated Oct 25, 2026
Connecting means letting Pop Street Commerce read your orders and send your stock, prices and tracking to a marketplace. Marketplaces do not all allow the same method, so there are three routes. Only the owner can connect accounts.
The three routes
- One-tap Connect. You press Connect, sign in on the marketplace's own page and approve access. Pop Street Commerce never sees your password. The access it receives is stored encrypted and renewed for you. This is only possible where a marketplace offers a public seller sign-in, and only once the marketplace has approved our connection app.
- Key. You create a key in your own seller account, usually a client ID and a secret, and paste it into Pop Street Commerce once. It is stored encrypted and never shown again.
- Upload file. Pop Street Commerce builds the marketplace's own upload file from your products. You upload it in the marketplace's seller tools. This also works while an approval is still pending.
Which route each marketplace uses
- Shopify: an install link for a custom app on your own store. No review.
- eBay: sign in with eBay, once our connection app is approved. Until then, an upload file.
- Etsy: sign in and approve, using your own Etsy developer app. Etsy decides what access an app gets.
- Amazon: your own private app, which you authorise in Seller Central. Think of it as the key route.
- Walmart: a key pair from Walmart Seller Center. There is no one-tap sign-in for individual sellers.
- TikTok Shop: an upload sheet first. Automatic syncing comes after TikTok approves the connection.
- Facebook, Instagram and Google: a private feed link you paste once.
We never say a marketplace is one-tap unless it really offers a public seller sign-in.
Sample mode
Until a marketplace is connected live, its screens run in sample mode. You see made-up orders and the exact request that would be sent, and nothing leaves Pop Street Commerce. When you connect for real, sample connections and sample orders are removed.
Connections need refreshing
Some approvals expire after weeks or months. Pop Street Commerce shows a warning on the dashboard and on the channel page. Press Connect again and approve.
