You can enter a new license key at any time from Settings, License. The Enter a new key button works even in read-only mode, so you can add a paid key after a trial has ended. A key that is refused leaves the license you were using untouched.
Before you start #
You need the owner role. Have the new key from your email ready. It looks like PSDP-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. A trial key needs this computer to be online.
Steps #
- Open Settings and select License.
- Select Enter a new key. A box opens.
- Paste or type the key into New key. The dashes are added as you type.
- Select Activate key. When the key works, the page shows "Key activated." and the plan, end date and devices change to match the new key.
- If the key is refused, read the reason on the page. Check the key against the errors listed below, then try again.
- Select Cancel to close the box without changing anything.
Technical details
- The office server asks thepopstreet.com to check the key, then saves a new signed license file when the key is accepted.
- The page shows only the last four characters of the key, under "Key ends in".
- When a key is refused, the existing license file stays in place and keeps working for its own terms.
If something goes wrong #
- Offline. A trial key needs the computer online. Connect the computer to the internet and select Activate key again.
- Key not right. Check each group of four characters against your email.
- Key already used. The trial was already used on this computer, or the key is already on as many computers as it allows. Contact your supplier.
- Key expired. The key's end date has passed. Ask your supplier for a current key.
- Withdrawn. The key has been withdrawn. Contact your supplier.
- Wrong product. The key is for another product. Use the key for Pop Dispatch.
- After a refusal, the plan and end date on the page stay as they were. The license you had before stays in effect.
