Checked against Pop Dispatch 0.1.0

The Private property screen holds the lots and buildings that authorize you to tow, and the impounds made from them. You will be able to start an impound, keep its evidence and release the vehicle with the right fees.

Before you start #

You need the owner, manager, advisor or dispatcher role and a connection to the server. Set your rates on the tow rate card so fees can be worked out.

Steps #

  1. Choose Private property in the sidebar. Use Show at the top to switch between Property accounts and Impounds.
  2. On Property accounts, choose New property account. Add the name, address, who signs (Signer), their title, the authority to tow, the property contact and the Wording on the signs. Choose Edit to change an account. An account marked Switched off stays on file.
  3. On Impounds, choose New impound and pick the property.
  4. Enter the vehicle or plate, the Reason for the tow, who signed and the Tow miles.
  5. Add the Photo of the signs. It is required. The Photo of the vehicle is optional. A picture chosen from your Mac is saved as a JPEG and shrunk to fit.
  6. Choose Start impound. The vehicle also shows in Yard.
  7. Under Police notice, choose Record police notice, enter the agency, the reference they gave and the time they were told, and choose Record.
  8. Under Evidence photos, choose Add photos and then Save photos to add more pictures.
  9. Under Fees if released now, read the fees. They come from your tow rate card and storage rule. Under Extra charges, choose Add charge to add up to 10 more, each with a short label.
  10. Choose Release vehicle (Shift-Command-R), enter who receives it and choose Release. The fees charged are then fixed on the impound.
  11. With a rule set chosen in Settings, under Compliance rules, an impound also shows the private property checklist, each line with the source the rule set gives. Read it before you tow and before you release.
  12. Print the release form or the lien notice as a PDF. See "Documents on the Mac".

If something goes wrong #

  • Release without a police notice asks for the Reason none was needed. Record the police notice first, or type the reason. It is saved on the impound.
  • The signage photo is missing: the impound starts once you add it.
  • The screen says to add a property account first: use Property accounts at the top of the screen.
  • Buttons are greyed: this screen needs the server, so it waits while the Mac is offline.
