Checked against Pop Dispatch 0.1.0

A private-property impound starts from a property account: the lot or building that asked for the tow. Pop Dispatch keeps the signer, the reason, a photo of the signage, a photo of the vehicle, the police notification and the release, all on one record that also shows in the yard.

Check your state's rules for private-property towing. Pop Dispatch keeps the evidence and the times; the rules that apply to your business are yours to confirm.

Before you start #

You need the dispatcher, advisor, manager or owner role. Enter your tow rates first (hookup, per-mile charge, included miles, gate fee, daily storage and free days) so release fees come out right. With no rates saved, no charge appears that you did not set.

Steps #

  1. Add the property account: name, address, contact, the person who authorizes tows and their title, the words on the sign, and the police agency to tell.
  2. Start the impound from the property account. Give the reason for the tow, the vehicle or plate, and a photo of the signage. Add a photo of the vehicle if you have one. The signer and the sign wording fill in from the property account unless you type others. The impound gets a number such as P-0001 and opens a yard record.
  3. Add more photos later if needed.
  4. Record the police notification: the agency, the reference they gave you and the time (it defaults to now).
  5. Check the fees at any time. They show the tow charge, gate and environmental fees, and storage to date.
  6. Release the vehicle: name the person collecting it and add any extra charges. The fees are saved on the record and the yard record closes. If no police notification applies, enter the reason instead.
Technical details
  • Routes: GET and POST /tow/ppi/properties, PATCH /tow/ppi/properties/:id, GET and POST /tow/ppi, GET /tow/ppi/:id, POST /tow/ppi/:id/evidence, POST /tow/ppi/:id/police, POST /tow/ppi/:id/release. All need the Tow group of roles.
  • Photos are sent as data addresses (JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB), judged from their content, and open through the files route.
  • Release fees: hookup, per-mile beyond the included miles, gate fee, environmental fee, and storage. Storage uses the yard rule: whole days, at least one, less the free days, times the daily rate. The rates come from your default tow rate card.
  • Release is refused until a police notification is recorded or a reason is given, and a vehicle is released once.
  • Every step adds an entry to the audit log.

On the web console #

  1. Open Private property in the menu, then Property accounts, and choose Add a property account. Enter the signer, the sign wording and the police agency.
  2. Back on Impounds, choose Start an impound. Pick the property, enter the reason, the vehicle or plate, and add the signage photo (JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB).
  3. Open the impound from the list. The fee table shows hook-up, miles beyond the included ones, storage and extras from your default rate book.
  4. Under Police notification, enter the agency, the reference and when they were told.
  5. Under Release the vehicle, enter who collects it and any extra charges, then confirm. Without a police notification, enter the reason none was needed. The fees become one invoice and the yard record closes.

If something goes wrong #

  • "Add a photo of the signage": the impound needs the signage photo before it starts.
  • "Say why the vehicle is being towed": enter the reason.
  • "Record the police notification first, or enter the reason none was needed": complete step 4 or give the reason in step 6.
